It’s Grace here, and this month I’ve been loving many things in beauty and skincare and even though I’m a little late here are some of my favorites from last month.
For my skincare, I’ve been loving The Body Shops’ Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. I’ve always heard amazing reviews about this product before and I just had to try it out. I’ve always had a bit of an annoying time with taking off my makeup, eye makeup especially, and I’ve always used cleansing or micellular waters and not been fully satisfied. I always find that my eyes burn or they don’t effectively take my mascara off. I also hate using eye makeup up removers as I feel they aren’t as effective either and leave my eyes rather oily, and with this product I will never have that problem again. It quickly and comfortably removes my makeup, and leaves me with a makeup free face. Afterwards, I feel cleansed and clean. It is a must for anyone who like me wears alot of mascara or hates taking off makeup, this product will change your skincare routine! This retails for $23 which is pretty reasonable for a very well product. I would definitely recommend picking it up next time you visit The Body Shop.
I’ve also been loving the Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask. For somebody who has sensitive to dry combination skin I always like moisturizing and hydrating masks. This mask is especially designed so that you finish using it feeling moisturized, clean and softened. This masks smell is a bit funny for me but I put up with it because of the amazing result I get. I can’t really describe how this mask makes my face feel, but to put it into words, it feels like my face has swallowed several cups of moisturizer. The mask has oatmeal, fresh bananas, ground almonds and vanilla which make it extra healthy for the skin. My only fault for this mask is that it’s only supposed to be used within a 3-week period, so you’ll need to repurchase it if you want to use it consecutively. It’s $13.95 which is a good price I feel for the product you get.
For makeup, I’ve been loving the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette. For us Australians, these products have been just recently sent over from America. And when I went to Sephora and saw this product I knew I just had to try it. I think this palette very successfully compares to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette. I’ve tried both and I prefer the Kat Von D. The shades are very similar but I prefer this palettes shades as they are a bit lighter, more grey and natural toned for my skin tone in particular. These shades are very pigmented, my favourites being Sombre, the first lightest shade which I use to contour with and Shadowplay which I use to sometimes bronze up my face. The thing I really like about this palette is that even though it’s very pigmented, these shades are very blend able. If you already have a contouring and highlight palette, I wouldn’t recommend spending your money on another one as these are expensive, mine retails for around $65 which is much higher than the converted price in the US, but if you have money saved up I would recommend purchasing this if it’s in your budget.
My last favourite is an oldie but a goodie, and a product you can purchase at the pharmacy. There was a sale on at Priceline, my local store and I believe it is still going on for half off Rimmel products. I purchased the Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent. I’ve only used it for a few days now and I love it. Many people rave about this affordable product and I agree with them all. It gives you a matte finish without looking cakey at all. I like to apply this with a tapered smaller brush for touch ups so that I don’t cover my whole face with powder. My only issue with this product and really for this brand is because it originates from London, it caters to more paler skin tones. This is perfect for me of course as I am the lightest shade you can get, but not so good for darker tones. As I have said many times, I wish more brands would cater for more skin tones with more shades. Overall, this product is great for me as I like a matte finish but this powder is not over-drying and is perfect for leaving inside your purse. The packaging could be a little more sturdier as it does seem like it would be easily breakable but apart from that I love it.
