COVERGIRL Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick: Review and Swatches

A few weeks ago we were sent a few of the new(ish) Melting Pout Liquid Lipsticks from Covergirl & in today’s post, I’ll be giving you guys a quick rundown on what this product is all about.

First of all, the name is very accurate in describing the product as it does look and feel like a melted lipstick. Covergirl describes it as having “a high-impact, super rich colour with a lightweight, satin finish“. In my opinion, this statement is completely accurate, each of the colours I had tested had a load of pigment payoff with a small amount of product and felt very comfortable on the lips. The formula is gel-based giving a very high shine which does leave a plump look on the lips.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a link to purchase them as I couldn’t find them on Target.com.au or Priceline.com.au but I am sure they will be easily found in your local drugstore. Based on the U.S. price of $9 USD I’m guessing it would be in the $13-16 AUD price range.

I’m not a major fan of the cushion tip applicator because it does make it a bit difficult to apply. I definitely needed a lip liner with each colour to get a smooth application. A lip brush could also be used to get a more precise edge.

My favourite shade out of the colours here was definitely the bright fuschia ‘Don’t be gelly’. I think it is so fun and punchy, perfect for a bright Spring day. Also, can we talk about how adorable these names are, I mean come on!

To round it off, I think that this is a great product for those who are looking for the intense colour pay off found in traditional liquid lipsticks but are looking for a more glossy finish, without having goopy and sticky lips all day! I think the colour range is definitely fun (it also comes in a range of deep purples and oranges) but would love a more nude colour thrown in amongst the pinks and browns in the line-up. A negative thing I found was that the product did have a slight lingering chemical scent which wasn’t pleasant. But other than that they I think they a beautiful addition to my makeup collection.

I hope you enjoyed this review and found it useful!

Let me know if you have tried these out & if you haven’t, would you?

♥️ Christy
